Hi, I am hoping to apply to Stanford Restrictive Early Action. However, I also want to apply to Caltech med scholars (for which you must apply early action, will get notified of caltech admission in december, and then med scholars admission in February). Stanford has an exception to their Restrictive Early Action that states "Institutions whose early application deadlines are a requirement for consideration for special academic programs or scholarships only if the notification of admission occurs after January 1." I was wondering if Caltech counts as an exception to the Stanford Restrictive Early Action. Thanks.

You should e-mail the admissions office and ask them directly to be certain so as not to violate the Restrictive Early Action agreement.

If I were you, I would contact the admissions office of Stanford if only to make sure that you are interpreting the exception correctly. If you are at all unsure (and it seems you are), it certainly cannot hurt to ask!
