From our high school we have kids going on to play Baseball, Basketball, Wrestling, Golf, Softball, Hockey. Since they are not my kids I hesitate to put more information than that out.

I’m amazed at all the rowers. Is this mostly an east coast thing or are there other parts of the country where rowing is popular at the high school level? Many colleges here have club teams but no high schools that I know of.

From our local public school, we have the following:
Soccer: (M) Brown, Carnegie Mellon, UCLA, USF, Washington
Soccer: (W) Stanford, Washington, Michigan, George Mason
Water Polo: (M) Harvard, Pepperdine
Water Polo: (W) UCLA, Princeton, Berkeley, Brown
Baseball: (M) Yale
LaCrosse: (M) Yale, Holy Cross
Track: (M) Columbia, Yale
Track: (W) SMU
Volleyball: (W) Berkeley, UCSB
Golf: (M) Columbia
These are the ones I know about. Men’s volleyball, crew, tennis and football I don’t know about yet.

^italiafiend, which of these schools is each student selecting, or are you reporting about multiple students in each sport?–if so, you have one heckuva high school!! Actually, either way, that is one talented high school!

Hi etondad:
Those stats represent one commit per school. And interestingly enough, we have a relatively small public high school compared to others in the district. We usually have heavy recruits in volleyball, water polo and soccer. Volleyball and water polo aren’t completely confirmed yet. Unfortunately, none of those are my child, just children of friends. We usually do exceptionally well in crew and sailing, but I don’t have any friends whose children are on those teams! I’m still investigating. Notice the lack of “traditional” sports, though. Something to be said for that.

Italiafiend, I would be interested to know (by private message) who the Pepperdine M Water polo commit is (I know who the Harvard one is and I know which school you are referring to). I follow MWP recruiting and I have not seen any reference to a player from that school committing to Pepperdine. I am just curious, that’s all.

Bit late, but Son, Tennis (M) UChicago. accepted EA in mid-December. He was going to receive an LL but they wanted to review FA first. Strong support from coach - worked!

I know that the coaching staff and admissions have a very good working relationship–lots of mutual respect. It was the same when my D was considering Chicago as a swimmer…which she liked a lot. Real academically oriented athletes would be well advised to consider Chicago seriously.

Yes, when he visited in October, he sat in on some classes and enjoyed them very much. PoliSci with the team captain and also a first year physics class (his area of interest). When he has time he logs onto the UChicago Class of 2016 FB group and enjoys the banter. He is excited about going but also reassured because the conversation on FB is very like that of his friends (rather nerdy) at school.

I am not a frequent poster but have followed CC consistently over the last 1-2 years. Son is signing NLI with University of Alabama for track/xc. The academic scholarship package they offer to NMF is very generous. Not sure he would have even looked if they didn’t have an Honors College there. Chose Bama over a couple of other D1 schools and a top D3 LAC. Hard to believe the process is over…at least for now…next up is daughter who is currently a junior. No athletic recruiting issues there though. Thanks to all for their insight and helpful information

Accepted to Swarthmore College with an early write as a soccer recruit.

MIT men’s water polo
