Hi there...need a bit of guidance. Son #2 has a very low number of extra curric. The HS he choose to attend was not a fit and he had no interest in getting involved at the school. He has some volunteer, etc... Not that concerned...he is not applying to top level schools. However I do want him to get credit where credit is due:) He spends a lot of time in the technology world....self taught programmer is various languages, has created and sold some graphic design projects, has built an arcade game and put together his computer. He is involved in various gaming leagues (btw one of the games he plays now is getting scholarship attention and considered a varsity sport at some schools?).
Finally getting to my question...I think some of this belongs on his college "resume". His essay will certainly be built around these strengths..however can he list some under extra cirric? or hobbies? or interests?
Just seems like he works so hard and spends a considerable amount of time learning the different programming languages, etc.. that I feel it deserves to be part of the app Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

If he’s not applying to top level schools, then his ECs will have little to no weight in his admissions evaluation. But what’s good is that he’s already shown intellectual initiative. This will serve him well throughout his life. But as for worrying about ECs for college – I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.
