Quick Question:
How long is a typical college Resume?
Mine is currently 2 pages which seems a bit lengthy. I wouldn’t want to add more paper to the piles admit officers already have - would a two page Resume be off putting?
A high schooler’s c.v. should be one page. You shouldn’t have a second page until you have a C-level job.
First question to ask yourself: Am I repeating stuff that’s already in my common app?
Second: Is all of this noteworthy?
Third: Can stuff be combined and/or clumped?
Mine was (and still is) only one page.
Resumes generally should be brief and concise, while still displaying your relevant experience. As @marvin100 said, you may want to remove stuff that is old or otherwise doesn’t fit. I’ve had to do this quite a bit.
My D;s high school resume was 2 pages because she put details about her activities, internships etc. It did not seem to be an issue. The purpose of her HS resume was to provide this detail and to serve as a jumping off point for interviews. Ironically as an adult she cut her resume down to 1 page and virtually nothing remains from her college application resume.
My son condensed and condensed his resume till he could fit it on one page. It included descriptions of his positions as well as the job titles.
My dd decided not to do a resume for her undergrad applications. Sure she had lots of stuff but we considered it too much piling on of excess paper. We already knew the GC was sending a copy of an article she write and a recommender was sending an abstract of a research pub they did. She did for grad school though and that can go more pages because it isn’t for a job, it is an academic CV and it is okay.
