Resume or Special Circumstances under Additional Information?

So, I'm working on my application, and I have a dilemma to bring to the CC community (as my first post, by the way). On the Additional Information section, I'm wondering which would be more beneficial for me, writing about a special circumstance or attaching a resume:

My dad has a severely crippled back, preventing him from walking and I would like to write about that as a special circumstance (in essay form). If I were to attach a resume, there wouldn't be any outstanding credentials added particularly, but I could elaborate on positions held, etc. So, essentially, my question is, which would be better? And is an extra sort of "essay" even allowed?

Thanks!

Nobody has any insight?

I think you should do something between resume and essay, like the short answer form, just give more background of particular activities appeared in your essay.
