I felt that I was really unlucky on the reading section, especially since all of my mistakes were made on one misread passage. My experimental was reading and I had three reading sections in a row, so by the third I was extremely unfocused. However, I realize that essay scores (and topics) can be fickle, and I happened to get an easy essay topic on this test and fair graders for my essay. So, should I retake the SAT in May, and if so, how can I improve my reading score? Thanks for taking the time to respond :)

I believe 2150 is enough for a well-rounded student. Most people call it quit once they hit 2000+. Going from a 2330-2400 doesn’t significantly do much higher chances to gain acceptance into college than with the current score. Keep an eye on the Ivy League schools that they want students who do other stuff besides studying 24/7. Have you done any ECs or Internships yet? They’re considered in the admissions.

I was checking your post on 2/10/2010 and here was your response:

"OMG scores are up!!! 2310…

OMG scores are up!!!

2310 i made a bubbling error "

The following day you changed your response to your current SAT results on (2/11/2010) on the Official SAT scores for January:
"Critical Reading: 730 Mathematics: 800 …

Haha @Indianjatt calm down…I was joking before with that, and I believe that I told everyone I was. That was before scores came out and I wanted everyone to panic because I was bored. I seriously got a 2330 and I am just looking for serious advice now.

Hey that’s the same with me!
I got 800m, 800w, 740cr because I had four CR sections, three of which were in a row.

I was thinking about retaking it, because I got this back late Junior year and had plenty of time. But then I realized it would just seem petty to seek perfection, although I do still want to retake it

@HYPhoper: Finally someone in the same situation as me :)

I’m probably not going to retake it. As much as I want to strive for that perfect score, all the extra studying and stress right around AP and SAT II time really doesn’t seem like it’s worth it.

Serious advice? Ok- realize that your scores are amazing and that life is more than a test score. If you realized that, you wouldn’t even be asking these questions.

HYPhoper and this post was kind of insignificant.

This thing has already been repeated too many times and geniuses are still repetitively bragging about retaking a 2200-2350. I find that unnecessary.

If you have high SAT score and GPA, but lack ECs and a good written essay, you’re not getting in. That’s it.

Getting a 2400 would have been for my personal satisfaction. It’s the same reason why I would rather have a 100 than a 95 even though they are both As and count the same towards my GPA and college admissions.

Hey, listen I feel for you. But not every valedictorians with 2400s get into HYP.
Cheer up… I’m sure at least one (probably even more) of the 10 schools will look upon you. :)

Compared to me, I scored mediocre on that test. =/

I’m not looking to get in to HYP by retaking a 2340, I just said it would be for -personal- reasons. Honestly, I was happy with my 2260 for college admissions but knew I could do better.

Thanks though for the encouragement!

I doubt you are. Plus as you (sort of) said, test scores mean very little.

Hey man, I got a 1570 on my SAT; yes I know, it’s dissapointing compared to the rest of the CCers.
Everything’s just upside down getting into college unless someone who scores that high just as you will mean very little.
