Retaking AP class dropped due to transferring high schools

Hi,

I took AP CSP during the first semester of my freshman year; I did really well and I really enjoyed the class. However, I transferred schools for the second semester and had to drop the class because my new school didn’t offer it at the time. My school now offers the class as of this year and, as much as I want to complete the class and take the AP exam as a senior next year, I am not sure if this is a good idea. Would something like this look bad on my transcripts, even if I explained why I wasn’t able to complete the class during freshman year?

I am considering self-studying for the exam, but I’m not sure if this is even possible because of the performance tasks that are required.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Taking the second semester of AP CSP without retaking the first semester is also an option, but I’m still not sure if that will hurt my applications.

It won’t hurt you to retake the class, provided you are not neglecting the cores in order to do so. Your guidance counselor can note why you had to drop the class the first time (when you changed schools).

My daughter took Physics in 10th grade but we moved in March. So when she did the IB program, she did HL Physics.

Make sure you take English, Science, Math, SOcial Studies, Foriegn lang and if you have space then take AP CSP.
Talk to your teacher/GC about if it makes sense to take the whole course or just the second semester.
