And where did you find this information ?

the acceptance binder said dorms are unlocked on Aug 20th (which I am assuming, at my own risk, that it simply means your key cards will gain access on that date).

Since the first day of classes is August 26th, I would assume returning students would move in on Sunday, August 23rd. I looked for date on the WashU site but didn’t see it. Just called Res Life and ask. Here is a link to the major dates in the academic calendar through 2011-2012, which does not have the date you were looking for, but is something I find helpful in long range planning!

[Washington University in St. Louis Office of Student Records Academic Calendar](http://aisweb.wustl.edu/studentrecords/home.nsf/pages/academic_calendar/)

ok the key dates page in the acceptance binder says that all residence halls open on August 20th. Or you could just call Undergraduate Admissions at (800) 638-0700 or (314) 935-6000

Go to the following site and look for the desired heading for appropriate info about orientation and move in: [Orientation at Washington University in St. Louis](http://orientation.wustl.edu/)

Thanks MidWest Parent - that’s what I was thinking also. I haven’t had a chance to call Res Life yet. We’ll aim for that Sunday 8/23. At least it gives me a date to work with.

Since my D is a returning student, orientation info does not apply. I don’t think Soph-Jrs-Srs are allowed to move in on 8/20 - that’s for freshman only.

NEM2 - I think once you are a returning student, you just have to be there in time for the first day of classes. My D likes to go the first day you can move in so she has time to get organized, pick up her books, etc. She has had roommates who moved in a day or two after she did.
