Reuters Exclusive: FBI raids home of ex-College Board official in probe of SAT leak

“Alfaro had contacted officials of seven state governments in recent months, accusing the College Board of making false claims about its tests when bidding for public contracts with the states. The College Board, he alleged, misled the states about the process it used to create questions for the new version of the SAT, resulting in an inferior exam. He also aired those allegations publicly, largely through postings on his LinkedIn account.”

Apparently, this guy was onto something BIG; now, they’re sending in the FBI to shut him down. If he were just another harmless, disgruntled former employee, why even bother sending in the goon squad?

Anyone who has taken any of these “new” SAT tests will assuredly attest to the poor quality and ambiguity of many of the exam’s questions and answers.

In other words, perhaps Manuel was right: the new version of the SAT is a BIG SHAM and SCAM.

Wow.

You’re right. It’s absolutely unbelievable, isn’t it?

You have all these unscrupulous test prep centers in Asia who have leaked thousands of exams and caused misery for millions, yet not even a slap on the wrist.

Now that one man stands up for what is actually right to expose the evils of the organization for whom he had once so courageously fought, what do they do???

They send the FBI to shut him up!

Shame on you, Mr. Coleman.

What makes you say this? People have stood trial in Asia for this, and those shady ACT centers were shut down.

Industrial espionage is against the law, although I generally agree that whistleblowers proved value to the larger society.

Oops–*provide

Industrial espionage, if we can even call it that in this case, has indeed proven invaluable in uncovering a great many cover-ups and scandals. Today’s whistleblower may well be tomorrow’s hero.

What I really want to know is this: What does the College Board have to hide?

http://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/college-sat-two/ and the cheating continues.

@jym626 - that article is from March (and has been posted here before).

Yes I am aware of that. We have discussed this previously but interned appropriate to repost here.

Ah okay. The word “continues” suggest to me that this was something new. Carry on.

Ack autocorrect!

Testing.

I’m beginning to lose faith in you, Manuel.

Your claims about the unedited version of the May exam don’t seem to add up and now you’re asking people to donate money to your “cause” on Twitter?

I thought this was about a righteous crusade to unravel the evils of a corrupt organization, not about raising $15,000 to buy your 9-year old daughter a new computer because the FBI confiscated her old one.

At this point, I’ll still give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that the CB hacked your Twitter account.

It’s expensive to mount a defense.
