For some places you can also apply to both humanities and CS and it doesn’t increase the application fee, so definitely do that. Sometimes you have to rank the preferences, but they’ll consider you for both starting with your top choice. Definitely more options are better. And I agree - if a school isn’t letting you freely declare your major after freshman year, don’t count on the transfer.
Yup I agree with this. Also I qualify for fee waivers in any case so that’s shouldn’t be a problem, even if there is a higher fee.
Seconding @aquapt’s suggestion of Denison. It meets 100% of need AND is a need-blind school that is reputed to have a strong data analytics program.
You have fee weavers plus Pell grand but your dad can pay 20K+ a year for college?
OP’s parents are divorced. Pell grants are based solely on FAFSA, which includes the financials of the custodial parent only (for now).
Any schools that require NCP financials via CSS profile (or other mechanism) will result in a higher expected financial contribution from OP’s family members. I don’t think OP has answered sybbie’s question re: if either parent is remarried.
I don’t think this has been mentioned on this thread, but starting in 2024-25 the parent who provides more support, regardless of custodianship, will be in FAFSA, so it looks like OP could lose Pell grant status.
