As of right now it all depends on the SAT scores. If you can get it to like 2150+, then MIT= reach, Umich, GIT= match, safety everywhere else. Thanks

For MIT, you’d probably need to get 2300+ or at the very least for the SAT I, 750+ for Math, CR and W. You didn’t list your AP scores but you would want to get 5’s on your science and calculus exams if possible. 2000-2100 or low 700s on the SAT I most likely wont cut it unless you are an under represented minority or you have an amazing hook. I know lots of people put first in the family to go to college as a hook but I’m pretty sure that a huge percentage of applicants are first to go in their family, especially if you are asian. Asian is super super super represented so you may need to be near perfect in your AP’s and test scores to shine.

I’d say with your GPA and a 2000-2100 SAT I score, your chances at MIT are a high high reach.

I’d say gpa wise, MIT is a reach, but factoring in mediocre ecs and sat scores, I’d say MIT is a high, high reach. Also, Im not sure how much more time you have, but you should do something that sets you apart.
MIT-high reach
Stony brook-not familiar enough, but I’d say match
Bu- match
GaT- high match low reach
Umichigan-low reach
the last two can become high matches if you get your SAT up.

chance back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1540299-chance-me-law-will-chance-back.html

You need to raise that SAT score higher than a 2000-2100. Try to get at least a 2250 to be competitive. Your GPA looks good (as does class rank) and your ECs are okay. I’d say as of right now, you are a really high reach at MIT. If you can get a 2250+ I’d say it’s a mid reach. Georgia Tech, Michigan, and Boston are matches. Stony Brook is a safety. Best of luck!

With your current SAT you have a slim chance at MIT and decent chances at the rest. If you get 2000-2100 you have a slightly better chance at MIT and great chance at the rest. 2250+ and you have a more realistic shot at MIT.

Also I think you only have oct, nov, and dec to take it and on top of that you need subject tests for MIT assuming you haven’t taken them yet. That is a lot of testing in a shirt time so I would make that a top priority. Good luck and hope you make it.

I don’t think your getting into MIT, even if you apply early action. Sorry; just being honest! Your extracurriculars are meh, and an 1800 SAT score doesn’t help. You would at least need low 700s in each subject on the SAT to even have a chance.

Get your SAT scores up to at least 700 in each subject. For MIT, the essays are absolutely crucial. Here’s a link to their admissions blog.

The blogs are a really good source of information. Good luck!

Thanks guys, i’ll try to have my SAT raised for sure. I’ll chance you guys back now.

Essentially I agree with everyone on here about your chances except for BU. I know that they’re probably basing it off your practice scores, but in my experience, the practice scores are almost always at least 100 points higher than what you’ll score on the actual test. The lowest SAT score BU has on its range of accepted students is 1910. If you want to feel absolutely confident, I recommend that you try to get a 2200 on the practice test. I’m sorry if this sounds harsh, but when I was practicing I consistently scored a 2050-2100 but on the actual test I only managed 1910. Later, I managed to get it up to a 2070, but it took an extra 6 months.

MIT: High reach
UMich: Reach
