That looks like a good list to me. Just a couple of questions: Do they all work financially? How are your grades? Do you feel confident in your assessment of reach/high match/match/safety? Are you from Florida? What are you thinking of studying, in general?
Just a couple of comments. Your top choice Occidental is terrific and smaller. A few of the schools, like Temple and Syracuse are much larger. That’s perfectly fine, all terrific schools, just checking to see if you’d have a preference for larger or smaller.
A lot of your schools are urban. Just to throw out some other smaller urban LACs Rhodes College (Memphis), Macalester (St. Paul), Creighton (more mid-size) (Omaha) (actually a pretty cool city), and Trinity University (in San Antonio TX, not Trinity College in Hartford, CT). Also maybe UNC-Asheville, a public LAC.
Some larger urban schools (like Syracuse and Temple): Cincinnati and Houston. Saint Louis University would be more like Creighton.
You can look and see how your stats compare if any of these schools look interesting. Also, run the Net Price Calculator (NPC) for your schools, if that’s an issue.
Anyway, it looks like you’ve done your research. Excellent schools, different levels of admissions competitiveness. Good luck!
Thanks for the reply! I am a Florida resident and in terms of finances Pepperdine is the the only one I’m unsure of because of the price I got from the net price calculator. …I’ve also heard that Syracuse and American can be really expensive so I’m going to do their NPC as soon as I can.
I’m interested in studying Political science. Thanks for your recommendations I’ll be sure to check em out!
The New College of Florida is worth a look as an affordable in-state option, though your SAT score is on the lower side for NCF. They’re waiving the application fee if you apply by January 2.
