Hi all,
Can anyone throw light on comparison of M.Engg and MS in cybersecurity at UMCP? Reading about M.Enng I read it requires 30 credits to get the degree, any inputs on if it could be achievable in 1 year?

The difference between the 2 degrees is 6 credits (2 classes more for M.S.) plus research for M.S.
Are you currently an undergrad at Maryland?
No I have freshly applied for M.Engg at UMCP and got admit from there. I just wanted to confirm in terms of technical knowledge, there is no limitation in M.Engg course irrespective of the credits required.
@Swati1028 I believe it is relatively new, as is the field in general. However, the school has had huge support for their ACES Cybersecurity living-learning program for undergrads. It’s the first of its kind in the nation, and the M. Eng is likely the extension of that because of its success.
Here’s the info on the undergrad so you see what I am referring to

I am not sure there is a MS in cybersecurity available yet. It refers to a Master and Certificate but the Master may only be offered as M.Eng. right now. If there is a MS, it may just be available in computer science with a specialty/focus in cybersecurity…? I could be mistaken, as I am not as familiar with CompSci as I am with engineering…
