I just got my acceptance letter from Rhodes College and I’m really excited! Rhodes has always been so high on my list because of its beautiful campus and supportive faculty! Also, I love Memphis city! :D

Still, I had a few questions on my mind,

Career prospect. Attending a college in US, I’m really looking forward to college that will benefit me in the long-run. So, what are the opportunities available to students? Internships? Job prospect after graduation?

Fitting in. I want to be part of a student body that is friendly, caring and cozy. I think, this is the most important thing that helps new students adjust to a different environment. Apart from this, I would really like to know what the social scene at Rhodes is really like? Whats do students most enjoy doing etc etc?

Reputation. Who well is Rhodes College regarded over the country?

I’d really appreciate any input over the subject.
I eagerly look forward to your response.

So I have the exact same questions as you. Don’t know too much about 1 or 3, but I do know Rhodes is pretty highly respected where I am.
But as for number 2, everyone I’ve met at Rhodes has been very nice. and when I visited everyone was really open and friendly. It was also really laid back. I know if you walk into my high school, you’ll see half of the school glaring at the other half, it wasn’t like that at all at Rhodes. In fact, I didnt hear anyone even talk about anyone else.
Hope that helps =)

Thank you so much! Did you get in? I really want to know more about Rhodes. It seems like such a wonderful place. Its not my first choice college though, I also got accepted at Wabash, but since its an all-men college, I’m not sure if I’ll enroll there!

@ talha_adnan…

you got accepted at wabash.??? wow…i heard its an amazing college with immense school spirit. You should definately consider Wabash. Im pretty sure you got a scholarship there too… …But Rhodes isn’t a bad option either

and oh yeah…i got in aswell…:D…im waiting for their financial aid decision

good luck–hope to see you both at rhodes next year!

@ koveracre…thanks alot…!!!.. btw what is your major.?

one more question… Since i don’t drink any alcohol etc, would that mean I’ll be a social outkast ??? just curious :P

krakenjack, my D chose not to drink for several reasons and she was certainly not an outcast. She did go to many parties where students were drinking. I know since she turned 21 she has had occasion to imbibe but I would believe rarely.

@ curmudgeon… I’ve been accepted at wabash college and Sewanee as well… Do you have any info regarding these colleges so that i can decide where to enroll amongst Rhodes, wabash and sewanee…:D

Hi!

I am an English Literature major and an Art History minor–I absolutely love it! Although many people claim that my degree is not as pragmatic as my sister’s (premed) I believe it will serve me well due to all the work and internship experiences I have gained while at Rhodes. I cannot say enough good things about the wonderful faculty in the English department–they have really made my time at Rhodes memorable and very worthwhile!

About alcohol consumption: Many students do drink, but I believe this is true with college students everywhere. Some students do drink too much (once again, applicable at almost any college) but most students drink socially and in moderation, with only a few drinking excessively. You will certainly not be an outcast if you choose not to drink. I am avid about my health and am a daily runner that drinks on occasion and always in moderation–many of my friends also consume alcohol but it is more of the glass of wine with dinner or at an art exhibition than the keg stand variety. From my four years at Rhodes I have found that the students here are very open minded about all different types of people–you will certainly not be antagonized here for abstaining from alcohol–if you don’t make a big deal about it than no one else will notice/say anything. No worries–Rhodes is such a fun place and you will enjoy the social scene here with or without alcohol!

Well from what you guys have told me, I think Rhodes is the best choice for me…!!!

I just wanted to know whether or not the acceptance letter package includes the I-20 form as well…?? (for international students)

hi!

i’m not sure about the I-20 form but can check on it for you–a girl in my dorm is an international student and is a great source of infomation. i’ll get back to you as soon as i speak with her about it!

KO

Once again…thank you so much for your effort…!! :)
