Here is one of the reasons Rhodes came to our attention. Look about halfway down the page for a stunner: Rhodes does the best job of educating its students in civic literacy, period. Rhodes keeps getting mentioned over and over as an excellent school, everywhere I look.

Darden,
Our S/D are waiting on admissions decisions from Rhodes as RD applicants. Both kids have strong GPA's, ( > 4.4 W from private prep school in Atlanta), very rigorous course schedule and very competitive SAT scores. The primary reason they have both been interested in Rhodes is the level of academic rigor in an environment where professors both know and care about the kids. The Civic Literacy report you cited is one I will forward to friends of ours who are looking at Rhodes with their sophomores and juniors as they begin the process we are about to complete.

As importantly, both kids are competitive tennis players and want a school where they can have balance and enjoy college life. Our kids made an recruiting trip ( such as you can call it in D3 schools) last September and were very impressed with the student athletes, the facilities and most of all the coaches. S/D have applied to at least 10 schools each and already have acceptances to Wofford ( as Wofford Scholars), Sewanee, Rollins, Stetson and Oglethorpe. They are waiting on Pepperdine, Rhodes, Vandy, Furman and D on 2 ivies ( huge reaches).

My point in this long and rambling post is that I belive you are right on the mark in your assessment of Rhodes. It is an excellent school and I believe you will only enhance your opinion of the college as time goes on.
