Rice fee waiver?

My daughter got an email from Rice University indicating that the would waive their application fee if she chooses to apply:

"Congratulations on your successful completion of the College Board SAT Subject Test exams.

You’ve put in a lot of hard work and effort to get to this point. We hope you’ll give serious consideration to applying to Rice University, which is why we’re waiving your $75 application fee. Just complete your application and respond to the fee waiver prompts provided in the Common Application or Coalition Application."

Is this usual?

Several of our kids got the email with the fee waiver, we were discussing on the 2021 thread.
S21 didn’t take a subject test so his email was a little different.
