Rice grad school info. (nanotech)

<p>Hi guys,</p>

<p>I'm looking into Rice for grad school (applied and accepted). Its not the best grad school in the country but pretty good, so I'm happy, I have also been accepted to Notre Dame, which is the other major choice that I am thinking about.</p>

<p>A couple of things concern me, which are that the facilities are better at Notre
Dame (at least the ones I saw), and they are offering me more money (2500 a month, vs 2000).</p>

<p>Rice is more of my 'crush' school if you want to call it that, and I don't want to make my decision on money fortunately both have waived tuition (but I don't have extra money laying around), I have visited both schools (on the grad tours), I was hoping to talk to a Rice grad student preferably in the EE department about facilities, and research.</p>

<p>I'd like to hear a different perspective, or if you guys think one would be a far better choice than the other.</p>

<p>Rice has excellent programs in nanotech related fields. Do you know which professor you will be working with if you attend Rice?</p>

<p>No, from the tour they told us that the first year we would find a professor, then we would do a research project the first summer which would be our ‘qualifier’ on whether we stay at Rice or not.</p>

<p>I did meet with Dr. Kelly, and Dr. Tour, and both seemed like they were doing interesting research to me.</p>
