more like bio research

I liked Duke. Duke has a nice hospital and campus. I supported a choice of Duke MS (+$$) over Baylor COM after checking out several coasts and Ivies, although Baylor appealed more to the student prospect after we both sat their classes.

Both will have their respective academic strengths for u/g. Duke is much larger and has a separate freshman campus ~1.5 miles away. The smaller, academic part of Rice campus is more tightly focused with a quicker walk to classes from the residential colleges. Rice has more excellent restaurants in walking distance that a $1000/yr savings would pay for a lot of 1st class dates. We went to several restaurants in Charlotte after trying several decent ones in Durham. I suspect that Rice has much better community relations and support than Duke with Durham.

Agreeing with this. When my mom (who worked at UAB medical center) saw the Houston med center, she said it's its own downtown. It's HUGE.

I am choosing Rice over Duke, Columbia, Cornell, Olin College of Engineering, Northwestern, and Johns Hopkins: BME major. Up until a little less than a month ago, I was obsessed with prestige. Now, after visiting the colleges to which I've been accepted, I've found that, though Rice may not have the internationally recognizable name, it has so many more assets that I feel my other "more prestigious" schools pale in comparison. Not to mention that Rice is working to gain that name, and they are rapidly finding success, as per their 10-point plan, found here: A Vision For The 2nd Century | Introduction

In the end, go with your gut. Which university feels like you? Where will you learn better and have a better personal experience?
