Rice OR WUSTL?

Admitted by both and really puzzled

I'd prefer to major in engineering, but i am not sure wheter engineering actually suits me.
Meanwhile, I also have a wide interest.

While WASH U has a higher overall ranking in overall, Student selectivity, and some other aspects, Rice certainly attracts me with its engagement in undergraduate teaching and its engineering program.

I really wish to hear more about the pros and cons about either of these two.
Any aspect will do me some good.
Very thankful to hear your advices!

Oh, well…I guess you already picked Rice.

I know this, because I read your post at the Rice thread. People always said that WashU manipulate numbers to climb up their rank in the USNew ranking. But all those accusations are unsupported. And just because a school is in the IvyLeague or well known, doesnt mean that its number can be trusted. So, if you’re smart enough (which I believe you are, cos you got into Rice and WashU), you should be able to differentiate between bitter accusation and real fact.
Finally, I hope you enjoy your 4 yrs at Rice. It’s a good school and I regretted myself for not applying there.

I believe that BOTH WASH U & RICE ARE REALLY GREAT Us WHERE ONE CAN ENJOY 4 YEARS THERE.
Maybe because i want to major in EE, Rice appears more attractive to me.

Yeah, every school might play some trick in the admission stats.so this should never be taken into consideration

Thx for your kind advice and wish you good luck!

My D got into Rice and WashU. There are differences that you should think about.

Weather and location. Houston and St. Louis are very different cities and you should investigate to see what’s best for you (public transportation availability, etc…). As far as weather, it’s not only the temperature differences, consider the downpour that floods Houston every year and the snow that hits St. Louis.

Sizes and diversity of the student body. Rice appears to have a high population of Texans along with more science/engineering majors and a smaller schools. WashU students are more spread out geographically and they have a more even spread amongst different majors. Rice is also a smaller school with the residential college system.

They are both terrific institutions and I wish you luck in your decision.
