Hi I'm new on CC and was wondering if anyone could answer my question. It would be greatly appreciatated. On the Rice webiste under Undergraduate Research oppurtunities Institutes and Consortia are listed as well. I am specifically looking into the BioScience Research Collaborative. It truly caught my attention. But I could not find whether undergradates have a place in the BCR or whether its "restricted" to grad students. But once again it was one of the "Institutes and Consortia" listed under Undergraduate Research: Universitywide Oppurtunities. Any info. helpful. Thank you.
(i posted this under a new title bc the old one was.....)

The BRC is in no way restricted to grad students. It’s simply one of the many institutions in which Rice researchers and professors conduct their research. I’m a first year undergrad working at a bioengineering lab there. It’s super easy to get research opportunities by going to some of the research fairs and emailing professors asking if you can work in their lab. Rice also offers a number of incoming students the Century Scholars opportunity which comes with merit money and a guaranteed research mentorship. There are about 40 freshmen with that offer here this year. Otherwise, it’s just as easy to look for yourself. Many of the labs in which students conduct research are either on campus, at the BRC, or the Texas Medical Center.

yhappiness is spot on. In general, research is not limited to grad students at Rice. If you are interested in any research one just talks to the professor about it and they see if they have space for you. Many of my friends even stopped by after class and asked about research opportunities.

If you want to do it, you can. One of the many things I like about Rice.
