Does anyone know if Rice University has a proverbial Economics program? I know that it's a small university, but if someone could help me that would be superb.

What schools have great Economics programs?

thank you and have a nice day.

Rice definitely has an Economics program. However, I would not describe the Rice Econ department as "great". Good...maybe. Decent, most definitely. But not great.

If you are considering Rice, I take it you are a top student. In such a case, I would look at schools like:

RESEARCH UNIVERSITIES:
Brown University
Carnegie Mellon University
Columbia University
Cornell University
Duke University
Harvard University
Johns Hopkins University
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Northwestern University
Princeton University
Stanford University
University of California-Berkeley
University of California-Los Angeles
University of California-San Diego
University of Chicago
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
University of Pennsylvania
University of Rochester
University of Texas-Austin
University of Wisconsin-Madison
Yale University

LACs:
Amherst College
Carleton College
Claremont McKenna College
Colgate College
Dartmouth College
Haverford College
Middlebury College
Pomona College
Swarthmore College
Vassar College
Wesleyan University
Williams College

Dartmouth college is not LAC. its a research university...

I know, but given its size (4,000 undergrads) and the fact that Darmouth only offers Bachelor's degrees in the Social Sciences (including Economics), I sometimes classify Dartmouth as a LAC.

what is the difference between a research university and a LAC?
