Rice vs NU

for political science....IR...stuff like that.

Nova? Northeastern? Northwestern?

Northwestern.... obviously...

thank you, anonamous. any answers?

When I went to Rice years ago (1975-79), the poly sci major was a joke - the major all the jocks chose. Don't know what it's like now. Rice students are typically not very political. I would choose Northwestern, unless you can't take the weather. Rice is a great school and the people there are very friendly and the professors are great, it's just that for political science there are so many better options.

I'd go to Northwestern. I like Chicago and I enjoy having 4 distinct seasons.

Rice is much more of a math/science school.

Actually I think neither schools are math/science orientated.... just my opinion

I am always suspicious when someone says "obviously."

I am a physics major at Rice and will admit that I am adding Political Science as a second major partly because of its simplicity. I wouldn't call it a joke though, there are some excellent profs in the department.

lets face it, i dont think poli sci anywhere is particualry challenging. I was pretty amazed that at Cornell, I was able to get an A in both poli sci courses I took. In both, all you had to do was completely regurgitate info and pretty much form some of your own ideas.
