My comment was more of a general statement, I wasn’t targeting you. I’ve heard a few people complain about an overbearing administration recently, and while I agree things are getting a bit stricter, I think some of us are starting to take what we have for granted.

I definitely agree though, with the changes to some of our traditions and all. If we keep going down this direction we may lose an important aspect of what makes our campus so unique.

I transferred from another university, so I personally know how strict administrations can be at other universities. It’s natural for people to start taking things for granted, but this is a legitimate concern. The issue lies deeper than in changes to residential college traditions. The colleges and even the student population aside, look at the effect on the faculty. The administration is passing more rules and regulations to hinder the professor’s abilities to manage their own classes. The French Studies department in particular took a heavy loss due to budget cuts and now only has a handful of professors left. Yes, right now it may not seem like a big deal, but things are brewing beneath the surface. As long as we continue to take action against some of the administration’s distasteful decisions, then we can remain a strong student-run campus. But in order to do this we need to target these issues and not brush them off as minor details.
