Richmond (full ride) v Cornell

Hypothetically, if you had a full ride to Richmond, but also had the opportunity to attend Cornell but with scholar distinction which would you choose?

It depends on what you wish to major in, and what type of a campus environment suits you best. You need to visit both schools. Personally, I live in VA, and I'd be estactic if my D got into Cornell - but it's the Ivy reputation that would sway me, to be honest. I don't know how well known Richmond is, but congratulations on your full ride! It's an expensive school and they only give full rides to the top of the applicant pool. Good luck to you, whatever decision you make. You must have very impressive stats.

I've visited both schools - Cornell was my first choice, rejected ED :-(

It is obviously much larger and more diverse, but the opportunities for a broad range of studies are also increased. The facilities at your disposal are unbelievable. But the reputation for heavy workloads and cut throat competition may be a turn off. The campus is just as nice as Richmond (up on a hill overlooking Ithica) and the food is great (hotel school right on campus!)

That being said, you may get more personalized attention at Richmond, it has strong ties to local businesses and DC, and the free ride has to be a huge bonus. I would go to Richmond and then to Cornell ($160K richer) for grad school later- get the best of both worlds!

Both are great schools with amazing reputations. Flip a coin.
