Richmond the American international university in London

Hey everyone. I just wanted to know from current students or students who applied, or friends of those who applied to RAIUL for term this year or last year. What is your opinion on the university, life on campus, and most importantly how rigorous the courses are?
If you know any links to their dorms or pictures let me know please.
Much appreciated.

I was wondering the same thing. Is the university worth it? Hopefully someone can answer both our questions.

What year are you starting and what major did you select?

I’m starting in the Fall of 2016. My major is History.

The university’s a joke. Sorry. There HAS TO be a directional that’ll be cheaper somewhere in the US that’ll be at least as good quality.

A new program for accounting and finance. would you suggest that I take out student loan of 72k for the 4 years total or no?
thanks

Are you still considering RAIUL?

@nikitam97 : absolutely not

Well based upon everyone’s suggestion I shouldn’t go. I think for me I’m more obsessed with the location of the school and not the actual school. It I don’t get into lehigh or 4 other schools than I have no choice to go.

I too feel as though the location has a hold on me.

Does nch accept internationals? They’re in London and better than Richmond (which has no relation to the one in Richmond and is a superb college). Nch is good academically and doesn’t use ucas. However it’s rather new and may not have tier 4visa permits yet, so check.

Is it too late to apply to NCH?

They don’t have a deadline. It’s rolling admission.

Okay so are you going to raiul for sure for sure? I need someone else.

I’m not entirely sure. Are you going? I’m, possibly, going to an information session on April 12th in Connecticut. I have some other options that are better. But, the London location got me. Do you any other possible routes besides RAIUL. I also got in on scholarship.

Ahh well I hope something works out for us. I don’t know any route. It’s just I know employees anyday pick someone "locally rather than someone “internationally” and I’m going in for accounting. To have dual accreditation got me. I’m sooooo stuck. I really don’t know what to do.

Am not familiar…https://www.petersons.com/college-search/richmond-the-american-international-university-in-london-000_10000287.aspx

Looking at this there is only 1000 undergraduates…a very small school.

Think about:
What is the academic level of the students vs your level
The UK college experience vs the US…in the US the students get more support and are lectured to and assigned homeowrk…the UK method is more on your own…which version is this?
Have you ever lived in a city?
Where do people work after they graduate?
What % of students who start at the school graduate?

Thanks for the input. I think I might consider my other options. Time will tell.

Having lived in London, avoid non British universities. Richmond and the other American universities “in London” are not well thought of and have very limited facilities. My niece attended one and was very disappointed to learn that she had no access to any of the University of London facilities, including their libraries, sports facilities and student unions. She also was disappointed that she wasn’t going to school with British students but rather American students who wanted to “experience” Europe.

A far better option is to apply to a university like NYU and ask to be considered for their program in London. Or you can apply directly to a British university.
