RISD v. Cornell AAP v. SAIC v. Pratt v. Art Center

Hi all,
I've been accepted into RISD, Cornell's college of AAP, SAIC, Pratt, and Art Center as a BFA candidate. I recieved a 44k scholarship to Pratt and SAIC.

I enjoy working traditionally but my strengths lie in digital media. I was planning on pursuing graphic design and some other form of digital media/comp sci

My parents seem to be leaning towards RISD and Cornell based on their strong reputations and curriculums. Cornell seems to have a good balance of fine arts and liberal arts while RISD seems to have impeccable fine arts... Needless to say I'm stuck

I would recommend the broadest possible education to prepare you for a dynamic job market. An art school will narrow your choices, even as it may deepen your training in a very narrow area. If you really want to combine your art/design with comp sci Cornell seems like the way to go. You really should visit your top choices and talk to as many students and profs in your areas of interest as possible. Only you can tell if it’s the right place for you.

I think you have to figure out what you want. You are looking at a small art school vs. a large university. Do you want the full college experience or an immersive art school experience. You will get a good education at either school, what do you want the experience to be?
