I’m American, but I spent my sophomore and junior year of high school abroad and will be starting senior year in the US this fall!
I found school here to be extremely challenging, and my grades plunged as a result. I’ve just received my report card and I have a GPA of 3.1 (unweighted), which is only for this year. Hopefully when I go back to the US, where my school is more suited towards my learning style, my grades will improve.
Although my grades are less than perfect, I have strong ACT and SAT scores, and am involved in several extracurricular activities (President of Model UN, debate team member, Varsity sports since freshman year and have received athletic awards…etc)
Will colleges will be less critical of my subpar grades since I have been in high school abroad?
RESPONSES WOULD BE SO MUCH APPRECIATED I’M EXTREMELY STRESSED
Where did you study abroad? What kind of grading did the high school you went to have?
The answer will depend very much on the courses you were taking.
If you were taking IB courses or A-levels, that’ll be seen in a rather forgiving light. If you were operating under a standard curriculum, less so.
