@pompeyfan9797 You said my chance for someone else was “very intricate”, so here I go! :)

Your extracurriculars are very centered around public policy and business – in short, very focused. However, some of your extracurriculars are just competitions. Definitely make the distinction. Your EC’s need to be things that you have done outside of school for an extended period of time. Unless, am I misunderstanding something?

Your academics look pretty strong. Take SAT II Math 2 again and take another SAT subject test. Most successful applicants will have close to 800’s on Math 2 and another.

The stocks trading looks very unique. I’d put that at the forefront of your application. I don’t know if this is how you have been involved, but ideally this would be the perfect situation: “Conducted research and financial analysis on various stocks, provided investment consulting for other individuals on their stocks, made ___ in profits managing a portfolio of ____, etc.”

An underrated aspect for all business/finance applicants is work experience. Get your feet wet. Email a few companies and try to secure an internship this summer. It would serve you well to get involved in an investment consulting internship or something similar.

Overall, your academics and SAT score look to be above average in NYU’s pool. Solid extracurriculars. Add some good work experience and you’re set. I’d be surprised if you didn’t get into Stern.

thank you so much @sirswish7 where do you think i stand as of now in terms of my chance of getting in. also should i email local banks or big banks downtown? id love to get an internship but i do not that good of a network and it is hard for high schoolers to get interships. are there any more suggestions? thank you so much for you response it was very detailied and helps me a ton! ;)

Definitely look at Villanova. Impressive wall street internships.

@makennacompton thank you! ill definately look into it! how do you think i stand as of now with the other schools and villanova? ;)

i would only worry that your application is too Wall Street oriented (trading, etc. etc.). All these business schools will get apps from tons of high school traders. So, my comment isn’t Villanova specific, sorry. I think what business schools are secretely looking for are for people who want to build businesses and put people to work, not perceived “money changers.” it it were me, I’d work on that angle a bit.

@makennacompton any recommendations on how to improve on that? thanks for the response

Blanket apply to the M7; try UMD Smith if you need an east coast safety. UG business ranked 18.

eng plz

@pompeyfan9797 No problem! Actually, it just so happens I am trying to do the same thing. Unfortunately, I’ve been getting discouraging advice from people around me. I don’t have the connections to get an internship. I’ve transitioned to looking for smaller boutiques for consulting internships, though. Hopefully, we both get one! And, hey PM if you want. You seem like an awesome person. Let me know how the search goes.

thank you! ill PM you!
