RIT Class of 2025 — Decision Date: By mid-March

Any PA program applicants receive acceptances yet?

By the way, my pres scholarship was $82K if anybody was wondering. Means $20,500 each year  accepted into Saunders college of Business and stats are at the top of the thread

Same here. RIT’s offer of 18.5 was lower than the offers my daughter received from RPI and Clarkson. She was a bit disappointed, so RIT slid down her list. We haven’t been able to visit, so she hasn’t had a chance to fall in love with it yet.

We are on the same boat. We really like RIT but the cost is quite high for us. Looking forward to see whether they can give more grants. Good luck to your daughter and mine as well.

It should say the amount in the acceptance letter. There is no other link.

For our kid, the merit wasn’t included in the acceptance letter - there actually was a second link that we almost missed as it was buried way underneath the actual letter itself. (Glad my kid scrolled down.)

Good luck!

My son also got presidential of 18,500 per year. 1550+ SAT, 4.0 unweighted, and strong STEM ECs.

That puts the RIT cost of attendance about equal to his Georgia Tech offer. We were honestly hoping for a bit more. But…we are very grateful for the merit they did offer and another school to consider.

Congrats to all who got in! We have a friend whose son attends RIT and loves it!!

Thanks. It wasn’t in his acceptance letter. Checked the portal again today and there was an update. Another link to a letter with merit was there.

We chalked it up to hitting his account later in the evening and needed a bit to catch up this morning.

Really wish schools would release all decisions at once. This rolling release of decisions is painful for those that have not heard and makes your head spin. My son is still waiting to hear and his good friend with similar stats just got accepted today so it make him start to think he isn’t getting in. Although, even with a top Merit offer, RIT is a lot more expensive than other schools he has already been accepted to. Time will tell I guess!

Isn’t RPI more expensive? You can always have a discussion with RIT admissions and indicate that their aid offer is not competitive with another school, and perhaps they may reconsider

Has anyone in RD gotten their need based aid yet?

We are still waiting on RD. Applied Nov 2! I’m hoping the delay is mid year grades were just submitted a week ago! But it’s CS and he applied so long ago, I have doubts for this target now. I did see that it’s a few weeks after decision that you should receive financial aid info.

For RPI, $6500 is in the form of a grant. Which can go away (and with my luck would). With that grant the net price for RPI is about 5k cheaper than RIT offer. Without it, they are close to the same. We also have an offer from WPI that is net 6k lower than RIT.

Given that RPI and WPI rank 53 and 66 respectively, and RIT comes in at 112, I am not sure that just matching those offers would be enough. They would have to come in significantly below the other offers to be on the short list. She also has Purdue, which is ranked 53 and without merit is 6k per year cheaper, with a larger commitment to not increasing tuition year over year.

I can reach out but I feel it may not be fair to ask for what may be beyond their limits of what they can offer.

there is more to RIT than ranking, Their coop program is one of the best , and if the end goal is employment that is something to consider. I think it ranks lower because of the high acceptance rate. When my son was deciding GT and RPI were on his list, but RIT (pre covid) felt like home

unless I misinterpret their tuition page, it looks like each class gets their tuition frozen? for example, enter before 2018 has a different tuition than entering in 2020. That certainly will be worth something over the 5 years and to be considered?

If those rankings you refer to are USN&WR, I would take them with a grain of salt. I would look into the particular discipline your son/daughter plans to study, and compare the programs (perhaps I missed the particular discipline of intended study), their research prowess, and other issues. We had to adjust from looking at the ranking of the overall university to looking at the strength of our son’s area of planned study for each school, otherwise, we would not have been making the best decision. For engineering overall, it may not make a big difference, but factors such as a strong co-op program and job placement make a difference too.

This is a great and valid point. Her area of interest is in animation, video game design, 3d modeling, etc.

But she essentially applied to an array of schools who are all top ranked for this major.
RIT is one of them and has a great program, and she really liked some of their options. But as it stands now, despite the 19k per year merit offer, they are still higher than most of the options. We will have 2 in school and it’s going to be a struggle … we “show” as having high EFC because we’re in a high cost of living area.

I wish money were not a factor, but it is and it does add up over 4 years.

Really like the co-op program as well. I will say being able to actually visit would be super helpful too!

We visited in August, and we were very impressed. Beautiful suburban location, nice buildings (architecture a little boring with brown/red brick style), great campus layout, two pools and close proximity to downtown and the airport. A friend has a kid looking at WPI and RPI too (but not RIT), and WPI may win out over RPI for a few reasons, particularly, proximity to their home. It sounds like your daughter does not have any bad choices, and you must be proud she was so successful in her applications. Purdue is a top national engineering school, and not sure how they are in animation, video game design and 3d modeling, but you did your research. RPI and WPI are also great choices. We know we will not get anything beyond merit aid for either of our children, but merit aid is an important consideration for us.

Hoping RIT does another Sunday batch of admissions decisions on Sunday like they did last weekend, as we have been patiently waiting!

Sigh, I haven’t heard anything back from RIT; Can’t tell if this is a bad sign, any who congrats to everyone who got an acceptance letter!
