Did you apply ED or RD?
I applied RD.
Okay, they must be doing them in waves because my brother applied RD and hasn’t heard anything.
I wonder how many they miss out on by delaying RD so long. My son has been admitted into 7 of 8 schools in Game Design. Still waiting on RIT, but frankly we sometimes forget about it. I suspect it will be in his Top 3 if he’s admitted but we may not even have time to visit. I’m not sure of RIT acceptance deadline but May 1 is an important date for some of his other top choices.
Same here for PA. Was told we would hear by Feb. 15. All other admissions were received by the beginning of February.
I emailed an admissions person the other day and he said in the next few weeks.
No info yet on Performing Arts scholarship, but we did get our Financial Aid package today (which makes me think we’re not receiving anything for Performing Arts). But the generous grant + Presidential Scholarship puts RIT back in the top 3! Still waiting on Northeastern and RISD.
My son apparently got an email on Friday but didn’t see it until today. He got in for Aero.
Did your financial aid package come via regular mail or email?
Notification via email! I had been checking the mailbox everyday, lol!
We haven’t received the full financials yet. Already know he received the Presidential Scholarship but a grant would sure be welcome as it is still very expensive! Hope we see something soon!
Son got his acceptance yesterday. Presidential scholarship $78,000 for four years.
The financial offer has been posted on 3/11 in portal.
$18.5k/year Presidential Scholarship
$23.4k/year RIT Grant
Making it very affordable.
My best offer so far is IIT (Illinois Tech) - 3 scholarships.
For those that received grants, would you mind sharing your EFC? We didn’t receive any grant money, but we have a high EFC ($58,000) so I think that must have something to do with why.
Grants are fully related to need with an EFC of 58K you likely would not get anything. Merit is not and renewable every year.
That I am aware of but someone on FB mentioned getting an unexpected grant and their EFC was high so they didn’t anticipate it.
When they say “renewable,” do you know if you have to reapply each year, or is it automatic based on academic standing?
automatic. If you drop below a 2.8 i think it goes down by 500$
Our oldest is a sophomore, and our EFC for her first two years was in the 60-70 range. We received zero grants or financial aid, just merit. Once our second entered, this EFC number was cut in half to around 36. At this point, we have seen a few schools (not many) throw us an additional 1-5K grant. But these also are financial aid based, so if for example we did a little better and raised our EFC a few thousand, that also might knock out the grant the following year.
If you are seeing 23K in the form of a grant, it’s likely your EFC is in the 10-15 range, I would think.
Has anyone heard from honors program? Also, I just got notified about accelerated dual degree program.
