Still Have not heard…
they are taking their sweet time
Do you guys think it’s a region thing? I’m from Texas. People who’ve heard back, where are you from?
From Connecticut…
@happy989 … Where are you from?
Just got accepted yesterday! GPA was a 3.3ish from a private day/boarding school. Interactive media! SO EXCITED!!!
DS was accepted near the end of February (RD). We live in Illinois. He applied Electrical Engineering.
SAT 1410, AP Calc AB 5, AP Macro Econ 5, AP Micro Eocon 4, UW GPA 3.3, W GP 3.8 (positive trending). He has taken and excelled at 4 PLWT classes. Eagle Scout
He received about $10k in merit in the email. He received a letter earlier this week with need-based aid. RIT was the only school to provide work study, which is a nice bonus for the kids. They also emphasized part-time jobs on campus, even if not work study.
He was also accepted to Iowa State, WPI, West Virginia, and RPI.
Can anybody who has been accepected to RIT let me know if they send you your financial aid packet through the portal/email or they ONLY send it through mail?
We got the merit scholarship by email, but the financial aid packet came in the physical mail. Accepted late February.
We just heard back. Did not get in. 3.5 GPA and 1440 SAT
denied oh well
Still haven’t heard back…not feeling good about it, but oh well.
don’t, I just heard like 6 days ago and got Presidential Scholarship and stuff, dont worry, just because its late doesnt mean ur gonna get denied
I don’t really intend to go to RIT at this point, but I’m so curious to know if I got in…agh, why are they making me wait so long?
@jd91200 Hello, may I ask which program you applied for?
@kimonae Computer Science
Not sure if it’s helpful, but I heard back in early March. Engineering exploration with a 7k/y scholarship.
My school is in CT, but my packet got sent to my house in FL.
@Polar2000 Congratulations to your son!
I also looked at WPI and RPI before deciding to come here for computing. Currently finishing up my sophomore year in six weeks and will be interning for an aerospace company in Colorado. Let me know if you have any questions about what it is like here!
For the record, WPI is about 10 minutes from my home in Massachusetts and is fantastic. RIT was just better for what I am doing specifically. Both are great schools, and I won’t try to sell you one way or the other. RPI, on the other hand, I am incredibly familiar with after spending quite a lot of time there. All of my friends who attended RPI now work for top companies, but were incredibly burned out after four years. (And all say it wasn’t worth the money, ultimately. They advised me to take the money RIT offered and run from RPI.)
Thanks @Frobot! He will be an electrical engineering major with the hope of working on electric cars. His concern about RIT is that he is not sure if he will be constrained to EE classes. He will want to take some MechE classes to round out his interests. His oldest sister went to RPI and is working for Amazon and doing very well. We are well aware of the burnout syndrome.
I was accepted today for illustration! Will not be attending however.
