Road Trip!

I am planning a college visit road trip New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Deleware, DC, Virginia, east Penn area. I am interested in French, but not necessarily majoring in it. I'm interested in sciences, engineering, history, politics, art and math... I lean left... and I do not want a wild and crazy party school, I also dont want a tiny school (less than 1,500), or an overly conservative school, or an overly religious school, I want a strong study abroad/french program. Any sugessstions in cutting my list down, or schools I should visit?

here is my list now

U Delaware
NYU
Columbia
SUNY Stony Brook
SUNY Binghamton
Johns Hopkins
Hofstra
Wagner
American U
GWU
Georgetown
James Madison
U Maryland
U Virginia
U Richmond
Vassar
W&M
George Mason
UNC Chapel Hill
N Carolina State
Bucknell
Gettysburg
Havergord
Swathmore
UPenn
UNC Ashville
Temple

Columbia has a campus in Paris plus a French program large enough to warrant its own building on campus, but I've heard NYU's is even better. Worth looking into both.

Just wondering how long is this road trip goin be like 2 months?!

Got some good schools on that list man... I love UNC Ashville... one of the coolest state system schools in the country. If you are already going to UNC-CH you should definately go 15 minutes down the road and check out Duke since it is obviously better than UNC in every way ;-)

Bring a very large notebook. That's my advice! Hah. When I went on a 3-school visit, I filled up quite a few pages, and if you're going to THAT many schools, you defffinetely do not want to look back on things and get schools confused

no, im cutting out most of the schools, lol

American is pretty conservitave

Maybe you could cut the list a bit by matching the schools a bit closer to your qualifications. People who have sort of GPAs and SATs that make it realistic for them to apply to Columbia or Swarthmore, for example, tend not to be interested in Hofstra or the University of Delaware. And vice versa.

At least two of the schools on your list, Hofstra and George Mason, have large commuter populations. If you don't live near either of these schools, you might want to consider whether being one of a relatively small number of on-campus students in an environment where a lot of the students commute is something you would like or dislike.

yeah cut down the list like hofstras great but its a safety for people applying to a lot of those schools on that list and its in an ok area like bring a car if u lived there on campus u dont want to be walking around off campus in that place i grew up 20 minutes away went to day camp there as a young kid i now live a little over a half hour from it going north no south of hofstra

my gpa is about 3.9 weighted, and my sat is 1980 (1360)... i have no idea where i fit in, in terms of selectivity, some ppl said i could get into brown, but i doubt it!

Bump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

au is conservative? they're one of the hotspots for radical activity in dc (and they always have some of the largest groups at protests)
