All THREE of my roommates declined, unless there was an error (nothing looks out of the ordinary). Because I'm rooming in Bowles, all the rooms are quads which are subdivided into a central double and winged singles on either side. I was hoping to resolve the situation of who gets which room (obviously the singles are most appealing!) but now it's, essentially, all up for grabs on move-in day. What does this do? Well, it forces me to have get first in line, run up to my room, and lay claim (I feel bad doing this, but it's their faults!) to one of the singles. Arg.. and you're right, it doesn't even make sense. "Oh, I don't want to share my information with my FUTURE ROOMMATE WHO I'M GOING TO BE IN THE SAME BEDROOM WITH FOR 10 MONTHS. Idiots... and I don't even know what the hell they're bringing up to Berkeley. Makes no sense at all...

ttg- maybe its like the minisuites. theres a double and a triple and we share a bathroom, but I only got information for my immediate roommate, not the people in the triple. So maybe youre already in the single, so thats why theres no roommate info displayed.

I knew some boys who were in bowles last year. Usually, the upperclassmen got the singles, while the two freshmen shared the middle, double room.

But, now that bowles is 'first year' experience, it will be all freshmen. I think you're just going to have to figure it out once you're there. The singles aren't very large, but good enough for one person I believe.

I think release of info was on the housing app, not on Bearfacts. I can't remember if I released info or not so I just sent the guy an e-mail and wrote a message on Facebook.

Wow.. I had so little faith in the roommate matching abilities of Berkeley (especially with that itty bitty survey we took for matching us up), but so far I completely love my roommate. Shes funny and seems nice and we have a lot in common. So yay!

Now Im much less stressed about moving up there. How do you guys feel about the roomies?

thanks for that.. come to think of it, it would make a whole lot of sense. Yeah, Izziebear, without the upperclassmen things would've been more open (there aren't anybody with an 'inherent' advantage at getting singles), so H&DS might've just gone ahead and assigned them.. Hmmm... if I do get a single, that WOULD be very interesting.. haha.. thanks for making me feel better! (maybe I should email or call them before I get my hopes up =], though peaceful ignorance is always nice)...

I'm rooming in Bowles, and I didn't get any room or roommate information. All that it said was that I am roomming at Bowles, which did not come as a shock.

I talked to any person who was rooming in Bowles, and he only got information on one of his roommates. This does, however, lend credence to Easymack's theory that maybe this could mean (1) you've been assigned a single; (2) you're in a double, but the other person has chosen not to release his/her information. It does, too, show that they have completed all the Bowles assignments so we shouldn't assume that H&DS forgot to "do Bowles." I've emailed the Residence Hall people earlier today, and I should get a response within "five business days." Once I get it, I'll be sure to share it with you. =)

Thanks TTG! I always assumed that the single or double sections would be up for grabs on move-in day, but if not it would mean that I wouldn't have to wait in line in the morning.

Yeah, that's what I figured, too. But it made much more sense back last year and the years before that when there were students with "seniority" status. This year, being all freshmen, thing can get a tad ticklish. Can you imagine four freshmen guys getting all fussy about what room they want for the year? It could make for a pretty ugly scene. I think if H&DS chose to go ahead and assign the singles and doubles, it would make a whole lot more sense. Yeah, and if they aren't assigned, I'll be there in line with you in the morning, as will 190 other guys! But who knows? Those guys up there are tricky, and maybe they just like throwing a curveball! In any event, I really, really don't want to have to arrive at 4am and camp outside to be first in line.
