What are the rooms/dorm looks like at Oberlin? Should I share or get my own?
You can google “dorms oberlin” and find lots of pictures. They are pretty standard with some old buildings and some that have been recently renovated/new. I personally think sharing a room can be great, especially for new students. Of course if you really value your privacy you can request a single, but they will be harder to get as a first year since many upperclassmen will want them. I can’t remember what first years are allowed to request, but there is a divided double option, which is basically two singles with one door into the hallway and one to the other room, so it’s kind of the best of both worlds. As a new student, you don’t really get to pick where you want to live, but you can do OSCA or resed program, first-year, or traditional housing.
I agree with @megame18 not many single options for freshman. The dorms are nothing fancy-concrete white walls. But they do have ample storage.
