the suspense is killing me

sam, sorry for creeping, but looks like you didn’t get in last year. sounds like you really want in! good luck! may i ask what your stats are this year?

Haha yep thanks! I had a 3.83 this year (3.75 overall). Pretty solid ECs and essays… Honestly I was pretty surprised I didn’t get in last year, but I decided to reapply because I really do still want to go there. Hopefully it works out this time. Good luck to you as well!

i feel you! i’m also a rising junior. i did not apply last year, though. I only recently discovered my interest in business. my stats are not very good, but i feel like i have really good ecs and essays so hopefully we get in :)

@flyboy573 I hope they do make the minor & i hope you get the same benefits of regular ross students

I hope they DON’T make the Ross minor, because it’ll water down the value of a BBA from Ross if everyone gets the same benefits as Ross students in terms of recruitment/access to facilities/etc.

Realistically, the 40% acceptance rate isn’t indicative of how hard it is to get into Ross. If you have a good GPA, good ECs and good essays, your shot is closer to 90%.

If you have a 3.4, weak ECs and your essays are ok, your acceptance rate is closer to 10%.

just my two cents

I think it would depend on how the process would be handled. If it required the same application process (and therefore competitiveness) as it does now with the option to either minor or major, I think it could create some interesting dynamics.

Ross would likely see more junior applicants vying for a minor in business while focussing on something else while still receiving all of the resources of the school, and if it’s still competitive and attracting excellent students, I wouldn’t foresee a watering down effect.

@thealbatross i don’t think it would water down the major because one is a major, one is a minor, their is a big difference i think it would be nice though because say someone in LSA would like to round out their education but does not wan’t to spend another three years in the program this will give them opportunity learn many business principles in a semester or two Or i think they should restructure the program where you can finish it at your pace so if you can get the core & elective done in two years go for it they should also allow more credits in the program right now i think they only allow 45 from LSA/Transfer so if you completed more then 45 which most soph/Junior applicants will you will be forfeiting some credits

Anyone think today’s the day?

I really hope it’s today! Can’t handle the anxiety.

if it were today, i believe we would’ve heard by now. oh well =/. i know a Ross PA who finished the year with a 2.9 gpa, though. ross holds it’s PAs to a minimum of 3.3 for the year. he had to send in extra materials and they said they would let him know by friday the 15th, so maybe that’s when everyone finds out?

^if that’s true that they told him that, I’m betting it will be before the 15th. My guess is now the 13th

Maybe they said the 15th because they wanted to know how many students accept admittance (not all do). Since you have a week to accept that would mean the notices go out tomorrow at the latest. Might just be wishful thinking!

^ Thats what I was thinking too… If there is room left after all acceptances received, they can let him in. So notices out by tomorrow…?

fair point, but i believe his sending of the extra materials meant that he would be considered along with the Regular Decision people. All things being fair, I find it hard to believe that they would shaft him by giving preference to the RD applicants

How’s it being shafted when the requirement was to maintain a 3.3?

they told him that his application would essentially go to the RD pool. All things aside, don’t you think it’s a little unfair if they give everyone else decisions before him?

The RD pool is full of 3.5-4.0 people with challenging schedules, so a 2.9 probably won’t stand much chance there, unless of course there are extenuating circumstances.

yeah, poor guy =/

let’s hope decisions come out tomorrow. i need this to be over with so bad…if i’m admitted, yay! if i’m not, oh well, it isn’t anything bad. i already had a set plan to start with, and i applied as somewhat of an afterthought.

Completely agree… as great as Ross is, there are so many other really good options for undergrad at UM, some would argue better options. Its what you make of it.
