Hey there,

I'm currently a sophomore who is interested in the Army ROTC program.

A primary goal of mine is finishing up my undergraduate degree and applying to graduate programs while in/upon completion of the ROTC.

With that said, I'm not particularly aiming to enlist in active duty under the Army, but most likely under the National Guard.

Do I have the option of applying to graduate school upon completion of the ROTC program?

How does the service commitment work? And how does the part-time aspect affect the college lifestyle?

If anyone or any Cadets can provide a glimpse of what it's like, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

My son is in Army ROTC at another school. If you are interested in National Guard, look into the SMP ( Simultaneous Membership Program, I think). You join the guard and go to basic training. Then you enroll in ROTC. You are not deployed while you are in ROTC. The PA National Guard may pay a good portion of your college expenses. You will have a commitment when you graduate.

Go talk to the officers in the ROTC program. You can even do a Google search for the SMP. Make sure that you talk to people you trust. Stay away from the recruiters.

Sophomore in college or high school? That makes a huge difference…

You most likely cannot go straight to grad school out of ROTC, you have a service commitment first.
