theyre sending out another batch of rejects as well as the acceptances tomorrow i think
from what i gathered from past years people

has no one been accepted today yet?

The pattern for email sending is not obvious. Doesn’t seem based on name or geography or application number.

It may be something internal (who the final reviewer of the application was) that we have no visibility to.

Since there are 900 applicants (according to the person I talked to there) I would think that it is somewhat of an automated system in which their email server may be restricted by their ISP to only send a certain number of emails per hour.

From here, it seems that they started at 10am EST (based on earliest rejection) and if they do 100/hour they will be done tonight if 100% manual, or before noon tomorrow if it requires manual intervention.

Since it must be automated, I would expect that acceptances, waitlists and rejections go out at the same time.

Also, some spam filters will filter out the email, but not notify you that they caught something for a couple of hours.

So if you haven’t received anything yet, the definitive answer is “who knows” ;)

Alternate. Anyone else?

Rejected :(

alternate too :/

what are our chances of getting moved into the ‘Participants’ list?

alternate over here…

Alternate. What are the chances I’ll get in?

no alternates got in last yr

Last year I got rejected but pretty much all the people who didn’t hear back in the first wave were either alternates of acceptees.
Also, if you got alternate, that really is a really great achievement. Every alternate I know now got into MIT or Harvard, so you’re in good company!

rejected lol. oh well

Hm I know of one person who got accepted (not me though )

Rejected

Timestamp: 7:12

Application #105

After snooping around this forum for a while, I finally decided to make an account to post my results…Alternate.

Does anyone know if being an alternate means anything to colleges, or if you can even say that you were an alternate for rsi.

I was accepted!!!
The email came at 10:37 today, Mountain Time, for anyone trying to find patterns; I live in Colorado.

Accepted here too! :D

Does anyone know if RSI ever posts a “public list” of attendees? If so, if they put this list online somewhere, does anyone know when it comes out? Thanks!

Can people who have been accepted/alternate post what their choice of area of research and which state are they from?

Congrats to those accepted! Can any of you (who were accepted) please post some of your stats and/or the top achievements that you think got you in? (Are you all amazing writers?)

tripos, I like your excellent question!I hope people will respond to it as well. If you were accepted or an alternate, what is your own answer to that question? :-)

Alternate from midwest - applied for physics.
Again, does anyone know if being an alternate means anything to colleges? Just wondering if something good will come out of it.
