RSI 2020

Looks like most of the results are coming out in mid March due to increase in number of applications. I contacted Emory Winship SSRP today. Even they said that the results will be declared in mid March due to high volume of applications.

@jm1230 I emailed Maite yesterday, and she said that results should be out soon.

MODERATOR’S NOTE:
Deleted the fake acceptance post and the posts that referenced it.

The virus outbreak could delay the release of the results.

@Synthitics when she said soon what did she mean by soon? days? weeks? but also mid-march is so long oof

Hey guys. RSI 19 Alumn here. If I had one bit of advice for you, it would be to stop worrying and trying to predict the dates. Worrying now and trying to predict has no effect on the outcome, so why are you even wasting your time stressing about this now? This is Junior year. Right now, your studies are of utmost focus, and that is what deserves your attention now.

After I applied to RSI, I completely forgot about it and barely even thought about it. On the day it came out, I only saw it 6 hours after it was sent because I was bored and just happened to check my spam folder in my email.

TLDR: Please do not worry about this. When the results come, they come. There is nothing you can do now. Just sit back and let the process play out

i wouldn’t be surprised if the virus impacts a lot of programs and competitors this year. the florida state science and engineering fair (one of the biggest STEM comps in my state) just got CANCELLED. :expressionless: best hopes however

What are some programs similar to RSI that still have applications open?

@Fishifer UCSC SIP

lol who else is part of the simon reject gang gang?

@bananapudding123 Didn’t you get a likely letter from Simons? I thought you posted that on the Simons 2020 thread?

ya i was quite shook when i got the rejection after that…

That’s lie… It’s not possible…

has anyone got rejected from simons but got into rsi in the past

@mshoc17 The applications are entirely different - one has essays of <90 words, the other has essays of 500+ words. Not only that, for RSI, you have a lot more space to describe your accomplishments, etc, and because of that, the selection committee has more info to go off on. Oh, and also, look at the demographic of Simons - most participants are from NY/NJ/CA.

In short, yes, I would assume that people have gotten rejected from Simons and accepted into RSI/other programs.

My sister got accepted to both RSI and Simons a few years ago. She attended RSI, but several students there did not get into Simons. And my other sister attended Simons when she was in high school, but she never applied to RSI.

I hate everyone who puts their СС in ads
is there anything else we can discuss besides this? what did you guys finish and who did you go to work for ?

@GreeneeB What do you mean by “who did you go to work for?”

because of the “high volume of applicants” are they accepting more students this year?

@annaedleson no lol
