Oh im an international applicant so it’s not closed for me hehe
Woop woop Go Canada!
Is anyone else on this thread an international applicant?
Because Im confused if I need to take standardized test as an international applicant?
I literally have not taken the sat/act/psat because 1) Canadian Unis dont need it and 2) I need to drive like 4 hours to take the nearest test
Another of my concerns is that in Ontario (my province) there’s crazy deflation of grades because our assignments are all marked “abstractly”. For example, after writing a test, I would get a 4+ (A+) . But on my report card (which is in percents) it would be a 95 -_-. Not to mention A-s. they are the worst. If you get an A- on a test/essay, it is an 80. Once Uni ppl look at my transcript they’ll be like oh! GPA 3.7? (So like a 90 average/high A) and they’ll think i’m getting Bs even though I havent gotten one B in highschool…yet.
So yea I’m pretty screwed…considering they’ll think my academic performance is trash. (That’s another reason I want my guidance counsellor to write a letter for me)
K lol now this is like a rant, but like if anyone knows what I can do pls send help lmao.
@fettaalfredo Scores are not required, but on the RSI webpage it does say “All scores from nationwide standardized tests. These include the PSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP exams. Students planning to apply for RSI are strongly encouraged to take the PSAT.”
Since you are applying through the international portal, the selection process is different and it depends on the people coordinating it for your country.
I just saw this RSI 2020 thread for the first time. Most of you have completed your applications and are anxiously awaiting results. After the results come out, most of you will unfortunately be denied, despite your talent, as the admissions math is brutal. But even if you are denied, don’t lash out as some people did on the RSI 2019 thread, creating an ugly tone rather than congratulating those selected for RSI.
Let me be one of the first to say: If you get in, congratulations! You are joining a great program. For those of you that are rejected (like my son was last year), don’t lose hope. This year, my son has already been accepted to one of the HYPSM schools, and most of you will also do really well in terms of admissions next year.
<5%.
But similar to elite ivy college admissions, the final statistics doesn’t matter because the process isn’t really random. For most people, the probability is close to zero anyways. The chances are non-trivial only to a very small set of the applicants.
should i update them if i got notice that my research will be published by this summer? In the email, I would attach the paper that would be published too.
@bananapudding123 Hey! I’m in the same boat, I just co-submitted a paper for publication. I decided not to update them because I haven’t gotten it published yet.
@triplealphafzn I actually dont know… It’s not actually published yet but i think emailing would help because a lot of kids applied from my school and i know someone who applied with multiple legacies for the program
Below are the dates results were sent out for the past few years:
2012: 03/08
2013: 03/12
2014: 03/06
2015: 03/13
2016: 03/17
2017: 02/27
2018: 03/01
2019: 03/01
I collected these dates from past RSI threads on CollegeConfidential, so they may not be the most accurate. Recent years make me think that they’re trying to send results out earlier than in the past, so I think we should get them by 03/06 at the latest.
