Hey IWantFood, I'm a rising junior too. I don't know how international RSI admin works, but I hope you get in. I might PM you soon, and maybe we can chat about this stuff. It would be pretty cool to talk to someone outside the states.

Anyway, I was wondering if you guys could give me any advice on my chances for RSI:

Rank: 1(tied)

SAT(old) December 2004: Verbal - 690, Math 720
GPA 9th: 4.625(reg = 4.0, honor = 5.0, AP = 6.0, 8 classes a year)
GPA 10th: 5.125

AP's:
Physics B - 5
Computer Science AB - 5
Calculus AB and BC - 5
Statistics - 5

Doing an internship at the University of North Carolina Charlotte, for creating a tool to display multivariate data(like 100 dimensional data points). Not sure if this is research.

Doing a ISEF project for AI.

I haven't won any big math or science awards really, but I've gotten some of the states highest awards in Model UN. Not sure if that helps RSI.

I don't have any olympiads or anything special, though I am working on the USACO training pages.

From Illinois, one person got in last year...they wrote on my rejection letter "there were many more qualified applicants we could accept." Ouch.

Man, when you are in an isolated state such as Oregon, you don't know some of the brilliant people out there, so you think you have a good shot at RSI. . .then you come onto this forum, and realize how pathetic you are.

Anyone know the number from NC? Does entering ISEF and Siemens help a lot? If you don't want to enter for math, but rather Computer Science, what kind of awards do they look for? I'm doing USACO, but I am not winning anything.
