I was just checking old community threads from previous years, noticed someone said they got accepted into RBS last year on February 13th and one from Feb 24th (unsure of what school though). So we might hear tomorrow, those people might have just been late checking their portal though.
Just checked the portal and thereās an update. My daughter (deferred from Early Action) was admitted to SAS and SEBS!!!
Same here- daughter accepted today to last of three schools she applied to- PharmD at Ernest Mario
anyone get accepted into RBS today yet?
Doing the admitted students bus tour on Monday. Any advice or must see places?
Just checkedāmy son got into SAS a while ago, still deferred to regular decision for the business school. No update.
Always fun to check out food places featured on Big 10 Eats (Big 10 Network). Rutgers is unique in that it is big school split into mini campuses- each with its own personality. Busch is where welcome center is located, as well as football stadium, most STEM programs and PharmD. College Ave is the original campus in urban location, Minutes away is Cook w/ a working farm. Douglas is Womenās college, Livingston is home to The RAC, the basketball arena ( recently renamed Jersey Mikeās) the Business school, The Rutgerās Club (alumni member-only bar and rest), nice apartments, several restaurants and Rutgers theater-all situated away from the downtown area. Livi is also known for having the best food. Unlike the long narrow PSU main campus that require lots of walking, navigating between sections (mini-campus) at Rutgers requires short bus rides. There is really no need for a car on campus. There is a train station w/ direct routes to Philly & NYC right on campus
Do they ever do two drops in a row? Promised an answer by 28th which only leaves next Thursday.
Only applied in Octoberā¦
Where did you see information about signing up for this? My student has said nothingā¦
Saw it on the visitor website.
April 9th is going to be the big admitted students day. They havenāt sent out registration for it yet. Im sure they will communicate it through email and website.
My son applied early action in October. He was deferred to regular decision and received his admittance notification yesterday to SAS. I was with him when he checked the Rutgers site to see if there was an update and the look on his face, after checking so many times over the last few months, was absolutely priceless. Iām so happy for him!
Congratulations!
Still waiting after deferral here (D applied in September, already graduated), and itās pretty much off the list since oos public schools with merit arenāt that much more.
Unfortunately, deferrals are common everywhere this year. To Rutgers credit, they at least are providing a target date for decisions by end of Feb. My daughter was deferred from 4 schools, including an ED. All four will only say before, or by early April. Although I convinced my daughter waiting a few months to make the best decision is something she will not regret, it is still frustrating- no doubt!
I empathize with the difficult job colleges have trying to estimate yield with no comparable historical data to rely upon. At the same time I shake my head at certain decisions. A prime example is U Mich; instead of calling it deferral, this year they are calling it postponements. I wish I was in the room when this was discussed. Some twenty something must have been patting him/herself on the back for this idea- thinking this label would soften the blow.
Anyone hear anything about this Thursday?
We are sitting on 3 deferrals. On a positive, itās making my son research schools to figure out alternatives (since of course his #1 school is one of the deferrals).
This system is so broken. While I appreciate all of the schools have had ārecord breaking amounts of applicantsā is it because many used the common app and sent out a ton of applications? is it an extraordinarily large graduating class? is it people that have taken a gap year because of COVID? Regardless, itās frustrating that many of these kids have the qualifications that wouldāve gotten them in for past years to no avail while other kids have gotten into EVERY school and are sitting on a PILE of acceptances.
Letās add to this that the āearly actionā aspect lead us to believe that early submissions = early answers. Instead, itās made the process seem ridiculously longer. Even schools that my son was accepted to almost 3 months ago donāt notify re merit money until mid March. The whole process is exhausting.
We went on the accepted students bus tour on 2/22. Weāre OOS from the West Coast. D had not really researched Rutgers before the tour (wanted an āorganicā first impression). She was pleasantly surprised by Rutgers. A dear friend who is a Jersey native bit his tongue when I mentioned we were visiting Rutgers-NB and said his memories were that itās not a great school. Is that āin-stateā bias? I was genuinely impressed by the campus(es). Am I missing something?
Yes, it definitely is. Rutgers is a good school and is well regarded for many majors. It gets unfairly dinged by a lot of Jerseyans. Lots of good job opportunities in the area too, at big-name employers.
Glad you and your D both liked the campus.
How was the tour? Did you get off the bus or stay on the whole time?
We were on the bus but got off and did our tour.
Was great to see the student centers and dining halls.
It was a beautiful day outside which made the visit better.
We had one stop (approximately 15 minutes) at a learning center, donāt remember which campus. After the tour, we went back to College Ave and spent some time people watching in the bookstore. Given this was our first exposure to Rutgers, I thought the tour was very good. It went from not on the radar to my daughterās #1 choice of her admits and #3 overall (pending two reach school decisions).
