@hamstargaming Well the main reason why it mattered to me is I would have been the 4th generation to be accepted at the school, it was more of a family pride point getting accepted than anything else. I will be mostly be going to Georgetown though I still waiting to see how much money American U will offers me thats all that could sway my decision at this point.
My son did early action and was admitted in December to mechanical/aerospace engineering. We are doing the March 2nd admitted student day.
Can you attend the admitted student day if you didn’t finalize accepting the offer?
Many students might be waiting until the end of march when they hear from other colleges. How did you find out about the event? I still didnt receive any email from rutgers, not even the one notifying the change in status and they just updated the portal which says I was accepted.
I see an admitted students day on April 14 for New Brunswick, don’t see anything about march 2, is that another location?

@hamstargaming I’m transferring from Brookdale Community College with an AA (completed by this summer) and so far, with 51 credits (14 transferred AP credits) I have a 4.0.
@Schadret For Engineering Only I think

@ashtransfer You might qualify for Princeton Transfer they just started it this year!

@shutdown506 definitely appeal it.
@yusuf17 Admitted student days for for admitted students to check out the school and ask questions. You do NOT have to enroll in the school to attend the event.

@ashtransfer this is my 2nd semster at college and to be honest my gpa isnt that good. Thoguh I had a 3.7 gpa in high school. I am just working my ass off this semester to get a grip of my gpa and bring it back up. I really put a lot of effort in making my essay look distinctive which i think is whatlll make my app stand out (hope so)lol
@nikolateslaxi Just called the Admissions Office and they confirmed to me that it was not a computer glitch. I was told that BRS did not want someone with my skillset at all as they prefer clean slates. (Unfortunate as I most likely have more work experience then some of their graduates.) I then was read RBS’s admissions criteria straight off the website… The staffer then refused to give any other specifics outside of that or even email me what was said in the call.
I would have loved to have written proof so I could have turned it around on them. I should have known better and recorded the call I was being too naive.
@apax_ Frankly the way that Rutgers NB handled this has killed any wanting to attend I had left in me. But I will definitely will be appealing the decision out of principal just to show it to them.
@shutdown506 I wonder what they mean by clean slate because i applied as a transfer to RBS new brunswick and fulfilled all there requirements and i also was an intern for a congressional member. I have a near perfect GPA like you and EC ill let you know what decesion they give me when it rolls around.
@shutdown506 Did you happen to work with a Republican member? I know Rutgers as an institution leans very left politically… Now that i think about it i should have never mentioned I worked with a Representative since hes a Republican…
@apax_ First of it is great to hear from another Congressional Staffer on these boards. I also worked for a Representative that is Republican as you mentioned probably not the best decision of mine or yours to disclose who we work for to them due to the institutional lean… Then again I also have some serious letters of recommendation from members of the Republican Leadership so if things are going the way we think they are those are most likely hurting my cause pretty badly…
I am also wondering what exactly did the staffer mean when they said “clean slate” it could really be taken multiple ways as they did not want to clarify.
Please do keep me informed I would love to see how your case and mine pan out in the end.
@shutdown506 thats strange since no instituion should deny admission based on the fact that you worked for a party they dont favor… I think there might be another reason, if you have proof that you were denied admission solely because you worked for a republican congressmen then definitly appeal !
@shutdown506 Yeah im still very puzzled that they came to that conclusion with you. Regardless, i’ll keep you updated!
@hamstargaming It is very strange one of my buddies in the DC office called it bizarre but not unusual, random stuff like this has a tendency to happen to us more so than to the general population.
I really can’t think of any other reasons why I might have been denied I have the academics, the extracurriculars, the letters of rec, the experience/ professional qualifications, and no disciplinary issues… Unless I am missing something there really is not any other reason I can think of off hand.
Then off of what I was told on the phone there really doesn’t sound like there are any other possibility as the conversation was really one sided with me basically just listening and being told why they did not accept me … This is one of the few cases where I would really like and hope to be wrong/crazy as otherwise it is a gross overstep on the part of RU. Tomorrow when I head into the office I am going to run what happened up the food chain and see if they think it is worth the political risk appealing (most likely the powers at be will say no as I never had any intention of attending) it is worth a try though.
But I can not stress over it I only applied to Rutgers out of family pride as my past 4 generation when there, luckily for me I have no intention and intend to study elsewhere.
I guess I should most likely let sleeping dogs lie from here out…
@shutdown506 definitely interested to hear what happens with all of this. Really disappointing if your suspected reasoning is true (which seems most likely), as you were a 10x better applicant than me and I got in SAS. Best of luck at one of the other schools though they are all so good!
@shutdown506 I see cause you might have to pay more for colleges like georgetown and american since they are out of state and also if you dont get enough fin aid or grants from them. Nevertheless, I think that your stats are outstanding and even if you did not get into rutgers you should not give up. Just plan on attending another college. Georgetown is one the best colleges and since youve worked with so many congressmen, this is an advantage. Because you’ll be living in the DC area and can get more hands on expereince and probbaly an internship as well in DC. If the cost is a problem, maybe consider taking out some loans …
Hello, i was accepeted to new brunswick school of arts and sciences but not to SOE. Is it possible to still join the school of engineering if i accept to go to the school of arts and sciences? thank you
