Rutgers Pharmacy Advice/additional questions thread

do u know where i can find the housing applications???

i dunno like I said they’re adding ~500 rooms to busch so there’s gunna be more spots for freshmen.

and your enrollment pathway should have the housing application

sorry to ask so many questions, but i have to take a final for taking just labs too? :(

thank you!

no thats fine…chem lab is its own separate course so yes theres a final for it but no midterm.

Wait till orgo lab you have to go to its own separate lecture

HAHA oh…ugh
i really hope this busch dorm thing works out! i’ve heard many bad comments on livingston. btw, are there separate dorms for pharmacy? or can i dorm w. a friend who’s going for engineering!?

nope pharm doesnt have its own housing. you can dorm with a friend.

alright! thank u so much! :D

I think the new dorm complex on Busch that you’re talking about are called the “New Busch Science Building”, and they’re “junior suites” reserved for pharmacy students, as well as engineering and Arts and Sciences, with an interest in science (basically Interest Housing).
Even though its ~500 spots, they’re not exclusively for freshman either. So I’m guessing only a portion are for freshmen, but there still could possibly be spots left!

yeah thats wat im talking about and i think that since BAMM used to be used for freshmen and special interest housing, then more spots will open up for freshmen because special interest housing is being moved over to the science building.

btw i heard “suite living” means 2 rooms connected with a common bathroom no?

yup, you’re right about the room format.
I signed up to live there for next year as a freshman, but now I’m really not sure if I’ll get the “freshman experience” there, living with upperclassmen. I know all the other freshman dorms are exclusively freshman so it might be more fun/easier to meet people? What were your experiences, ChrisPBaconi, if you don’t mind sharing?

Hey does anybody know of the 2+4 program @ Camden? Is this route worth to take instead of NEU?

admitted as a pharm student for class of 2017. i have a some questions.

1) i’ve heard the best class to AP out of is bio

 • do a lot of people AP out of classes (how many out of bio, chem, calc, electives?)
 • will it be bad to AP out of the class if i dont remember the material? (i took Ap bio my sophomore year, and dont remember a thing) does the material covered serve as the basis for courses in the future?
 • is it better to AP out of bio (see above) or humanities electives?
 • if i do decide to AP out of the class, will there be another class i’m placed into?
 • also how does it factor into your GPA? (do they leave it out or factor it in based on the credit 4-B (i also took it at a community college so would it be better if i use that instead - i got A and A-))

I have a 3.8 weighted gpa and an sat score of 2000.
my volunteer experience: one summer at the franklin institute and cooper hospital, one at the library, and one at genesis health care.
extracurriculars- 2 years student alliance, one year track, one year chess club

what are my chances of getting in?
thanks!

So, if I have a 5 in AP Chemistry, does that mean I can use it to fulfill my requirements for Biology and the related labs? I think I read above that chemistry is interchangable with biology? Because that would be awesome, since I didn’t take AP Biology, and don’t want to take it in College either.

@shukla95

AP Chem credit would only apply to Gen Chem classes- excluding the labs. So in your case, you do have to take biology.

Well actually I’m confused now b/c I think that’s what @Lurker said. lol

Hi I was wondering if you could compile a list of “easy” professors for each of the classes we have to take. Thank you so much!

ChrisPBaconi, I got a question: I’ve commited to Rutgers Pharmacy and I’m 90% sure that’s what I want to study for the next 6 years, but I also have a slight interest for engineering. Will I be able to take engineering classes along with pharmacy classes while enrolled at Ernest Mario?
