Icyfire,
Did you apply to the Rutgers BA/MD program or the one through TCNJ/Stevens...

I'm a junior but I will be applying next year through Rutgers, TCNJ, and Stockton for the BA/MD program (along with a bunch of other BA/MD programs such as Miami HPM, GW, BU, and Rochester). Did any of the UMDNJ ones require SAT 2s? And any advice on interviews. Thx

I don't know about the SAT IIs, but the interview is easy...my interviewer just bragged about her daughter...waste of time in my words. Try for Northwestern's HPME -- I got in, so really it's fair game for anyone. Enjoy your junior year and chillax.

Did you decide where you're going yet hydrogen?

i didnt get in...
my interview was really wierd.. i don't think this is normal
but my interviewer kept telling me I shouldn't have applied to UMDNJ but instead applied to Princeton, yale as a pre-med. And despite me stating why I wanted to go to UMDNJ, he said that I should have applied to better schools.. which I thought was very annoying..
He ended with a "you presented yourself very well", but ran off without meeting my parents, and simply said there's the door..
i had a bad feeling after the interview because of the unusual ending.. I called Dr. Shevlin and he said that I was one of the definites, because he gave me a great interview, but my interviewer must have saw something wrong with me.. I dont know..
whatever
really angry
now I need to look for a good pre-med program and transfer in somewhere..
btw.. congrats to everyone who got in

Oh man...was the doctor an old ob/gyn? I had the exact same type of interview. He kept trying to dissuade me from entering the program throughout the entire interview. Unfortunately, I did not take it so well and I told him that if he didn't want me in the program, he should stop interviewing me and wasting my time. Then I stormed out. Needless to say, I was not accepted there :-)

when i talked to the kids from last year, they said that part of the interview was to see if you were really dedicated to the seven year program. Obiously, some interviewers took it a bit far. My interviewer also wanted to know why I wanted to go through the seven year track but he wasn't as annoying,

yea...I realized he was doing that. When I tried answering though, he just asked another snotty nosed question about my dedication to a program like that. I didn't feel that bad about storming out though because the campus itself was a little creepy for me.

i answered all his questions and kept telling him that i've always set umdnj as my goal..and i responded to all his qs politely.. i said i never wanted to go to princeton yale all those schools because umdnj is my princeton.. my dream school since as long as I knew about medicine.. which i thought was a nice touch
but he would just take long silences and stare out the window and mann..
i was so angry after
guess because of this one guy i'm gonna have to do pre-med..

ahh...that sucks

I got into another ba/md program

i've found that the interviewers that ask me no questions tend to gave favorable grades to me

the ones that talk to me are the ones that mark off

I should stop talking in interviews from now on

what do you guys think about the med school being in newark? the area really sucks, but i guess you'll gain good medical experience from treating all types of people, including drug dealers, gang members, etc lol. do you think that umdnj newark is a bad med school?

yea it kinda sucks that umdnj is in such a bad area but the med school is decent. It definetely isn't something thats outstanding but it gets the job done.

from what i saw, it looked like i would need kevlar to go to class

but i guess students have been going there forever so it can't be all that bad

and yea...it will probably provide a more exciting/urban type training

haha

Guys, have any of you considered going to Rutgers New Brunswick and applying for the 7-year program with UMDNJ-RWJ in their sophomore year. Currently, I'm torn between taking the 7-year program of TCNJ/UMDNJ-NJMS and my other option of Rutgers and the chance at their 7-year. From what I've learned, 50 people apply for that program and 10 get in. What do you guys think?

Take the TCNJ one. More prestigious, better support.

So, who's going to this 7 year med program and through which undergraduate school?

is RWJ in new brunswick?
