Hi, I am currently a sophomore at Rutgers Business School,
3.9/4.00(expected to be a 3.94 when I send in my application).
My high school stats:
3.5/4.0 UW, 4.4/5.0 W (rank 10)
SAT-1930(M740,CR610,WR580
ACT-28
I know its sub par, heavy underachiever in high school, but hey what the hell are my chances…
High school stats don’t matter when you are transferring. Transferring to Penn (like any of the Ivies) is EXTREMELY difficult. Have a few other schools you’d be willing to transfer to on your list (unless you want to stay at Rutgers and are just giving these schools a shot for the hell of it)
Kick butt at Rutgers and aspire for the best fit MBA program.
This is directly from NYU’s website:
"Transfer admission to the Stern School of Business is exceedingly competitive. We have admitted between 0-25 students from outside the University in each of the last 3 years. More than 1,000 students have applied each year for the spaces we have available. Nearly all of our available spaces for transfer admission in recent years have been awarded to students at NYU’s schools and colleges and not to students from outside the University. The most competitive students typically present extraordinary records of achievement on both the undergraduate and secondary school levels and have fulfilled every single one of the courses required for admission consideration.
If space is not available at Stern, we would be happy to consider you for other business programs housed within these two NYU schools if you express such interest in your application: The School of Professional Studies (Hotel & Tourism Management, Sports Management, Real Estate) and the Polytechnic School of Engineering (Business and Technology Management, Construction Management).
Before completing a transfer application, students should understand the competitive nature of our process and that we will continue to prioritize the awarding of available spaces at Stern to students attending NYU’s schools and colleges"
Good job turning it around at Rutgers. Would not send those scores in by the way if applying. Average is like 1460 / 1600 i think for freshman applicants to Stern so as a transfer it helps to be at least above that.
If you are serious about transferring - would not limit yourself to these two schools. Both are extremely competitive to get into as a transfer student. Would also look at some of the easier but still excellent UG business schools as well like UVA, UMich, Berkeley, etc. The other option is to just continue doing well at Rutgers and keep building up your resume with relevant experiences and you will definitely get some good interview opportunities come junior / senior year.
