Rutgers University New Brunswick Early Action for Fall 2023

No idea

Results this week most likely? Anyone know ?

Wouldn’t be surprised if no decision this week. Students are on break and don’t return until the 16th. Doesn’t mean admissions staff is but it would make sense if we don’t see decisions until after.

Wouldn’t the best time for admissions staff to work on and release results be while students are on break so they don’t have to worry about anything else since no one is on campus ?

No one who posts here will ever know until it’s already happened. Could be any time between now at 2/15 and past years isn’t an accurate way to predict the current year. Not doing it by the same dates as last year does not mean they have more applicants or will deny more people. It could be 100 reasons, many of them benign.

Does Rutgers need a mid year transcript or any update of mid year grades through the SRAR?

For EA, not needed. But for regular, they are needed. Those who has better mid term grades, they are updating SRAR.

My son will have mid year grades finalized by mid February which will be too late. Should he update with first quarter grades?

If you believe latest grades are going to help GPA, you should update them

Does Rutgers do deferrals for EA? My experience with EA for my daughter 8 years ago was that you apply early action and it’s yes or no. Florida and MD had the same parameter. You apply EA and your decision comes out mid Jan, a little later, but yes/no

Now it seems southern schools started EA, but it’s not really EA because their applications have soared, so they might take the top 10%, deny the bottom 20% and defer everyone else until March.

Not really early action if you are getting deferred everywhere and have to pick 10 more schools to apply regular decision knowing your chances are worse.

Much rather get a definite answer 3 weeks later like Rutgers,UF and UMD

Last year there some reported of the portal updated on Wednesday before they received the Thursday email. Some also reported the email coming in late Thursday. But given they released in waves on each successive Thursday last year, starting far earlier than this year, none of this may be applicable.

Sounds good let me know if you receive anything today :pray:t2:

After 6pm and no one has posted they have received any news. Looks like the Rutgers admission team saw their shadow and will make an appearance 6 weeks late this year. I am sure we would all appreciate the courtesy of some official guidance on why decisions are coming out so late this year and give a ballpark indication of when they can be expected.

Nothing so far on the portal. Looks like this year it will not be several waves but one tidal wave if all EA decisions are to be released by Jan 31st, as per the deadline on the Admissions website! Not unduly concerned, but Rutgers is in-state for us

By Jan 31st, as per the Admissions website all EA applicants will receive one of the following decisions - admitted, not admitted, waitlisted or deferred to Regular Decision (decision by Feb 28th).

It is ridiculous. Not even a single email from them.
