Sad news in College Park.

Does anyone have any more information on this? How sad for everyone involved.
Some of the comments seem to hint that it may have been self-induced. Is this true?
Very tragic.

N. Campus sophomore found dead in dorm - News

DS said it is true and that it is very quiet (emotionally)within the dorms. He said people fetl bad b/c it happened over Easter weekend when most of the students were gone (it does not appear to be suicide) so the rumor is she was found when students came back. I know for our DS we dropped him off @ at that time on Sunday.

Article was published in the Diamondback, the student newspaper, today. It is thought to be suicide according to the article. There was another article about a student who had committed suicide earlier in April also on the front page. Students were having a vigil for him.

It is sad news. I hear about a lot of suicides occurring in college, way moreso than I ever heard about in HS. My best friend from HS, a college friend of hers committed suicide recently also. It’s all really disheartening :(.

You’re right…it is very disheartening. There are so many counseling services and places to seek out help, it is terribly sad when someone sees no other option than this. Unfortunately, it happens across the country.

The girl was someone one of my D’s roommates knew well. Then, to find out that someone else committed suicide (away from campus) on 4/4 is really tough.

Linda Clement, the Vice President for Student Affairs just sent out a campus wide email talking about stress and pressures before outlining the mental health and personal counseling resources available to students.
