Safeties?

Both Pomona and CMC are very selective this year with acceptance rates of 16% each. Nonetheless, with your stats you should be competitive there.

That's kind of what I was afraid of. Any suggestions to help fill the bottom half of my list?

What about Drexel or Champlain or Colgate?

Er. Bump. Sorry.

Colgate is just as selective as the others on your list (class of 2010, acceptance rate of 28%). Not a safety by any stretch.

Univ of Toronto. It has a residential college system like the Brits and is excellent in IR

So after reviewing this list, the common consensus seems to be that my list is top-heavy. Any suggestions to flesh out the bottom would be greatly appreciated! I'm really looking for safeties and low matches; I don't really need more schools along the Colby/Tufts/Yale/etc reach level. Any help you can give me would be great!

And thank you to everyone who's already helped/everyone who suggested reach&match schools; it's been useful. :-)

Go to the library and look at Rugg's Recommendations. He organizes the lists by major and then separates them into most selective and very selective. For my son I did a cross listing between his two interests and came up with a starting point for him.

Holy Cross-top30LAC near Boston - and Colgate.

thanks, par72, but again, those are definitely not safeties. i think i've got the top of my list covered; got any ideas for the low match/safety category?

Safeties: Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA; Goucher College in Baltimore, MD (you can cross-register with Johns Hopkins); American University in DC; Catholic University in DC; University of Mary Washington in VA; University of Richmond, VA (low match).

safeties:
union college (ny)
wheaton college (ma)

heroothewizard-you should look at Drew, has all of the elements you want. Gorgeous campus, short train ride to NYC, great abroad program and fantastic IR!

Thank you, everyone!
