<p>In NY, the community colleges are the ones in which you are guaranteed a spot. However, you are not guaranteed a spot in the college of your choice and they are becoming more competitive because of money. The CUNY community colleges do not have dorms. Some of the SUNY ones do but not the ones closest to NYC. For example, Westchester Community College does not. Onondaga, which is near Syracuse, does. The CUNY four year schools are not even that easy to get into and harder than before. As someone said, the Staten Island is easier, as is Medger Evers. Hofstra is good for a B student and is not bad on financial aid. If you are interested in business or education, Pace is pretty good.</p>
<p>^ True about the CUNYs not being easy to get into. However, honestly, this is for the average student. A HUGE portion of kids in NYC, and I guess close parts of NY, apply to up to 6 CUNYs, bringing down the acceptance rate. The OP had a great ACT score so I assume he’s a good student</p>
