SAIC for Architecture?

I just did a summer program at SAIC for architecture and I greatly enjoyed it but I’m on the fence with their undergraduate program. I’m very much aware that their undergraduate program is highly conceptual and I’m not sure if that’s good for a planned architecute major.

If anyone has attended SAIC for their undergraduate in architecture, or knows anything about it I would greatly appreciate information! Also would like to know if anyone would recommend them for architecture.

Thanks!!

I don’t have any insider information on SAIC, but I would mention that their undergraduate architecture program is not a professional Bachelor of Architecture (BArch).

SAIC offers a 4.0 year Bachelor of Interior Architecture and a 4.0 year Bachelor of Fine Arts – Architecture Pathway. With either of these degrees you would still need to get a Masters of Architecture (MArch) if you intend to practice architecture. The MArch could take you another 2.0 to 3.5 years depending on your undergraduate curriculum and the requirements of the MArch program you choose.

SAIC says

You might ask them which MArch programs their BFA students have recently attended. And also with an SAIC BFA, which SAIC MArch would you be eligible for, the 2.0 year or the 3.5 year?

There’s nothing wrong with getting a BA/BS/BFA then an MArch. Plenty of successful architects take that route; however you should be aware of the potential time and cost differential.
